Polk marks its anniversary with an American Legion sponsored event on September 18. A muddy day limited attendance until afternoon crowds arrived for free acts a ball game and old fiddlers contest won by Hampton A D Dover taking first prize. Civic parade ranked Polk High School first LT T Co girls second and Service Auto Co third. Viking Hall dance closed the day with a merry go round entertaining children. Progress will publish prize lists next week.
