London shoppers describe a wave of copper shortages forcing credit deals. News vendors and a booking clerk offer payment on future visits, with borrowers trusting strangers for small sums. The London Mail reports widespread informal credit amid coin shortages.
Last Friday evening at the Methodist church a reception honored the local public school teachers. Ivan Bauder presented a recital of tunes and readings, Miss Helen Richmond contributed readings, and Rev. Kunkel spoke. A receiving line of teachers and Revs Cope and Kunkel received bouquets from the children. The crowd moved to the basement for games and dainty refreshments to conclude the pleasant evening.
Rev Cope and family left this week for Red Cloud after two years as pastor of the Methodist church and many friends regret their departure. Mrs Elmore of Lincoln, a former India missionary, lectured at the Baptist church on Monday about her experiences and the people. A song service led by Laurence Arlander of Omaha preceded the lecture. Arlander, once an evangelistic singer, was here several winters ago.

She leaves father mother one sister Eva and many relatives. Funeral services were held at the M E church of Polk September 23 at eleven o'clock. Burial at Arborville Cemetery.
