Interest Grows in Sorghums at Polk County Demonstration

Farmers from Polk County gathered at Stevens farm to examine sorghum varieties. Cornhusker Prospects Rise for 1936 Football Season

University of Nebraska under Dana X. Bible begins his eighth season as the Cornhuskers prepare to defend the Big Six title. The 1936 schedule opens October 3 with Iowa State at Memorial Stadium. Missouri visits October 31, Kansas State comes November 21, and Pittsburgh plus Indiana also on the slate with Indiana meeting October 17 and the Pitt game set for November 14.

New Sprinkling System Installed for Park Use

The village has installed a park sprinkling system along Main Street to ensure water supply for plants during dry periods. Pipes run the park length with outlets eighteen feet apart delivering spray from curb to curb. The system aims to save trees and grass, while providing a cool play area for children in hot summers.
