Polk High School volleyball opened the 1976 season with a varsity loss at Palmer 15-7 15-13. Polk led 18-11 in the second set before errors swung the match Palmer’s way. Reserves fell to Palmer 15-13 15-5 while freshmen won 15-4 15-12 15-5.

Vikings Top Cubs 12-0 on Friday Night

The Polk Vikings blocked a punt for a third quarter score and added a late TD to defeat Stromsburg Cubs 12 to 0. Rick Runyan scored from the five after the punt block, with Lee Peterson adding the second TD as the Vikings controlled play late. Tom Carlstrom left the field injured and limited Cubs’ hope as their drives stalled near the Viking goal.
