Irene Widga died Tuesday morning August 31 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln after a period of illness. Survived by husband Lyle a daughter Mrs Sherman Wilshusen and a sister Mrs Lloyd Lind. Funeral details not available at press time.
Ticket chairs Reuben Hanquist and Paul Monson for Polk County host a dinner honoring Congresswoman Virginia Smith. The event takes place Saturday September 11 at 7 30 p m at the North Platte Holiday Inn with speaker Congressman Don Clausen of California. Tickets are 25.00 for a couple.
The Polk girls volleyball team opens at Palmer Sept 7 due to gym floor work. Coach Joe Green notes 25 players attended August 16 preseason workouts.
