Polk County Historical Society Hosts Young County Artists

The Polk County Historical Society met in Stromsburg with 68 attendees. Guests included young art show participants whose pictures were returned. Hosts and speakers included Mrs. Irvin Anderson Miss Lillie Chindgren and Mrs. Curtis Flodman with Dale Lucas and Martin Jones showcasing a chalk talk and a mechanical toy display.

Shower honors Mrs Hanson and Miss Jones in Polk County

A group of 40 friends and relatives held a miscellaneous shower at Polk Community Hall on Sunday for Mrs Patty Hanson and Miss Lonna Jones. Pink, white and blue decorations graced the event, gifts were opened, and a buffet luncheon followed featuring a bride and groom cake. Hordville Coop Fourth Oldest in Nebraska

The Farmers Cooperative Association of Hordville organized in 1906 will mark its 60th anniversary. The 65 thousand bushel capacity elevator built in 1949 and the 155 thousand bushel tower added in 1955 underline years of expansion led by manager Dwayne Hahn. Bodine, a former manager of 32 years, is now Polk postmaster.

Services held for Martha P Westfall 82 longtime Polk resident who died Sunday night at a Grand Island hospital.
