The Faithful Workers met at Marie Henderson's home on September 24 with Florence Hoffman as co host. Twelve members and one visitor attended. The program committee included Mildred Norquest Marie Henderson Margaret Brockevelt and Erma Hoffman. Idiot bridge provided entertainment. Margaret Brockevelt received the hostess gift. A dessert luncheon followed.
Donita Lampshire addressed Western Nebraska Women for Safety in North Platte on October 6 with Sign's for Safety. She toured the Drivers Education Division in North Platte and will present October 13 in Lincoln for Eastern Nebraska Women for Safety.
Mrs Milton O'Connor of Gordon Texas Mrs Moyne Brannon of Wilson Oklahoma and Mrs Vere Lutz of Arcadia visited the Russell Fjell and Paul Strand homes from Monday until Wednesday of last week Mr and Mrs Oscar Nelson of Hastings visited for a few days in the Murray Nelson home and Mr and Mrs Claude Shenk visited Friday evening with Evelyn Shenk

Mr and Mrs Roy Ehn of Longmont County and Mr and Mrs Dick Harless and Randy were Saturday guests of Mrs Vega Ekahl. Mr and Mrs Fred Bedient Bruce Bedient and family, Mr and Mrs Myron Norquest and boys, Mr and Mrs Vern Samuels and children and Mrs Lovette McCoy were the Sunday evening guests in the Mervin Samuels home to celebrate Mary Jane's birthday.
The Polk County Cancer Crusade Program for 1975 raised 2611 under the leadership of Osceola’s Mrs Raymond Lindblade. The drive runs August to August and includes 99 in Memorial Fund gifts. Forty percent supports National research while sixty percent remains in Nebraska for public and professional education and services.
The Polk Schools observe National School Lunch Week October 13 17 with an Invite America to Lunch program. Visitors limited to 25 daily. lunch reservations required by 9 00 a m one day ahead. Daily menus include fishwich, chicken noodle casserole, all American cheeseburger, vegetable soup, and baked chicken with sides. milk costs extra for adults.
Mr and Mrs M G Lindburg and Mr and Mrs Maurice Lindburg of Stromsburg returned from a western journey visiting Salt Lake City and the Mormon Tabernacle. They watched Old Faithful at Yellowstone, saw murals in a museum, visited relatives in Pocatello Prosser Markey Tacoma Seattle and Victoria Island during the excursion.
Jr Home Ec girls created nailages on display in Redman's window for a one week period. Mrs Virginia OConnor of Gordon Texas and her mother Mrs Vere Lutz of Arcadia along with friend Mrs Moyne Brannon of Wilson Oklahoma were overnight guests at the Paul Strand home last week and visited Polk community friends. They departed Wednesday morning to visit Bertrand. Mr and Mrs Murray Nelson hosted Sunday dinner with Delane Chader and Janny. Mrs Bob Neibur of Ravenna joined a Sunday supper with Wilfred Stephens.
Polk Cubettes rally from 0-1 to win 3 straight games 9-15 15-7 15-10 led by Abbi Harrington 13 and Jane Kealiher 11 points. JV beat Clarks JV 15-1 7-15 15-2 with Peg Neeman 10, Lori Hanquist 9, Lesley Jones 7 leading. Next, Polk hosts Silver Creek October 7 then enters Stromsburg Invitational October 13-14 facing Shelby at 5:30.
A 60 member program at the Evangelical Free Church Sunday featured Rev. Pauls guiding scripture and prayer. Hannah Bodine and Elvera Nyberg performed in Swedish duet, with a 60 voice choir singing a hymn. Mrs Reuben Hanquist read a memory essay on Christian home heritage as kerosene lamp tables lit the fellowship meal.

Elizabeth Anne born September 23 weighing 8 pounds 9 ounces to Mr and Mrs K L Stewart with maternal grandparents listed. Joseph Scott born September 29 weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces to Mr and Mrs Robert Fishler with maternal grandparents named. Nearby social visits include Mrs Lovette McCoy’s calls and other residents visiting in York and Grand Island communities.
