Bandits entered Benedict, Nebraska, after 12:30 am Saturday, looting taverns and businesses. Losses included cash, cigars, a music box, a high school floor sander valued at 1650 dollars, and multiple storefronts. No witnesses or arrests reported as sheriff notes a pattern seen in recent Nebraska village robberies.
The Commodity Credit Corporation sets 1952 corn loan support at 154 per bushel for Polk County. The loan program includes storage and moisture rules for cribs and bins, with penalties and purchase agreements available through May 31, 1952, and maturity by July 31, 1953. A separate note mentions a burglary at a local establishment with entry via forced doors and windows.
The Adelsons, pioneer Polk County residents, are praised for generations of community involvement. Frank and wife raise family on the farm since 1872, active in Swede Plain Church and cemetery work, with Frank on church boards and Gladys receiving a WSCS life membership.

Polk High School will join 62 bands for Band Day at the University of Nebraska as 3 601 students participate. The mass band will perform four pieces under Donald A. Lentz with 300 baton twirlers, parading through Lincoln before a Nebraska Kansas State game.
Roy Michel arrived September 22 to make his home with Mr and Mrs Everett Stouffer in Oakland California. Everett grew up in Polk and is the son of Mr and Mrs Roy Stouffer who now live at Wheatland Missouri. Tradley Dean weighing 9 lbs 6 oz was born to Mr and Mrs Dean Samuels on Thursday October 2 at Yuik General Hospital.
Mr and Mrs Carl Best of Central City announce the engagement of their daughter Phyllis N Best to Burdette A Flodman of Stromsburg. Plans are indefinite as Phyllis graduates next spring from Central City High School. Burdette is a Polk High School graduate and farms with his father.
Arthur William Gustafson, 69, died Tuesday afternoon at his Polk area home after a lingering illness. Funeral plans were not definite at this time pending the arrival of his son John from California.
Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Harless and Mrs. Charley Wright were York visitors Saturday, stopping for a social call at the Harless residence.
A large crowd attended the Methodist Junior Sunday School Promotion Day. Certificates and pins were awarded to pupils across many grades for good attendance and promotion milestones. Bibles were presented to students meeting promotion requirements.
Bargain event at Davis Pharmacy runs from Wednesday through Saturday with a large listing of values on page 7. All purchases must be cash, no green stamps issued, per Mrs. Davis.
