Legion Auxiliary Report Highlights Veteran Programs and Events
The American Legion Auxiliary hosted a veteran program on Monday November 14 with 35 members and 6 visitors. Jean Nielsen presented a history of wars while the group sang songs from those eras. Names of all service members were read. Janice Saylor opened the meeting. Activities included Halloween party for preschool and toddlers, bingo at the Veteran's Home in Grand Island, and Christmas cookie boxes for six servicemen. Portfolios sent to new servicemen, help from volunteers, and the Rehabilitation Committee display of gifts for the hospital were noted. Hymns and patriotic songs closed the session alongside hostesses and energy saving reminders for winter. A December meeting plans a Christmas program with a $1 gift exchange.
