Eastern Star Hosts Grand Officers at Polk Chapter Event
The Willanna Ivy Silver Alcyone Osceola and Rob Morris chapters hosted Grand Officers and guests at Polk. A 2 pm tea, 6:30 pm dinner for about 150 including 18 Grand Officers, prayers, skits, speeches by Martha Jane Dudden and Theodore Janing, and gifts to the Worthy Grand Matron marked the evening. Coffee and cookies closed the event.

A Shnt-in for December was chosen and a $5.00 donation to the Columbus Opportunity Center School for Retarded Children was approved. Agnes Sealey and Garnet Miller led the Thanksgiving program. Elaine Miller sang "We Gather Together." Lunch was served by Edna Sundberg and Lois Meerkatz.

Adelson’s 90th Birthday Celebrated in Swede Home Community
Alex Adelson, longtime Swede Home Swede Plain resident in Polk County, marked his 90th birthday on Sunday November 18. Born November 16 1872 in Varna IL he moved to Polk County in 1873 with his parents A P and Hannah Adelson. He married Otelia Hult in 1899 the couple helped found the Swede settlement Swede Home. A Lutheran Church member since early years he and relatives hosted a reception at Swede Home Church on November 18.
