First Grade Adopts Gerbil Mascot JoAnna the Pet

First grade cheerfully introduces JoAnna the gerbil as their class mascot. The pupils describe her daily activities and note their progress in reading counting and basic math. They mention unit studies on Fire Prevention table setting Veterans Day and Election and a class president chosen from Snoopy.

The Southeast Birthday Club gathered at Francis Widga's residence on Saturday Oct 4 with fourteen members present. They honored Frances Widga and Lauretta Neuhaus for their birthdays. Mr and Mrs Joe Monson of Clarks were Thursday visitors in the Harold Anderson home.

November Birthday Party at York Celebrated

A group of Polk county ladies with November birthdays joined Mrs Orpha Due in York for a Saturday birthday gathering. Guests included Ollie Johnson, Mervin Samuels, Julia Flodman, Marvin Fredrickson, Grace Harless, Clarence Johnson, Yette McCoy, Dwight Burney and Lillie Flodman. A gift was given and a pot-luck luncheon was served.
