Active cattle and hog trading with prices firm to up 10-15c. Hogs at top butcher weights near 9.36, 10 060 head selling amid favorable reports. Sheep and lambs steady to 25c higher with fat lambs at 12.00 to 12.75 and feeders 11.75 to 12.65. aged sheep strong, total receipts 11,000 head.

Mr and Mrs Erwin Light celebrate the birth of an eight pound baby girl at their home on Thursday October. The newborn will be known as Darlene Marie.

Henry Johnson Sentenced for Liquor Offense in Grand Island

Judge Vandis in Seward sentenced Henry V. Johnson of Grand Island for liquor law violations to one year in jail and a 6000 dollar fine. Johnson aided William H. Tatro to manufacture whisky in Hamilton County. Tatro pleaded guilty and testified Johnson agreed to pay but did not, leading to Tatro’s cooperation. Johnson plans to appeal and posts a 4000 dollar bond.
