Arborville Church to mark 95th year with services Nov 7

Arborville Congregational Church observes its 95th anniversary on Sunday November 7 with a 2:00 to 5:00 PM service and open house. A lunch will follow in the Hall by the Ladies Aid. Tribute will be paid to Rev Lindley J Cook who served since 1957 until his death July 29 1971. Interim pastor Richard Bauer, dedication by Rev Melvin E Schroer of Lincoln, invitation extended to the public.

Sundberg's Hardware Burglary Reported

Sundberg's Hardware was broken into Monday night. About 400 dollars in merchandise was stolen. Entry was through a north side window. Thieves took four guns, 22 calibre shells, 12 gauge shells, 410 shells, two boxes of pocket knives, and several wrist watches.

Farmers Union Plans Fly-In Across Nebraska

Polk County Farmers Union announces a three day fly-in drive on November 9, 10 and 21. About 60 farmers from neighboring states will stay with host families in 19 eastern Nebraska counties to support the campaign. National president Tony DeChant urges farmers to join to boost farm income.

Volleyball Tourney Set At Genoa Monday Night

The Goldenrod Conference holds its first volleyball tournament at Genoa with first rounds Monday November 8 and semi finals and finals November 9. Polk is seeded No. 2 and faces Osceola at 8 15 P M Monday. Semi finals Tuesday at 6 00 P M and finals at 8 30 P M.

Auxiliary to Show Film on Flag Etiquette

A Marine Corps recruiting sergeant will speak and present a flag etiquette film at the American Legion Auxiliary meeting on Monday November 8. A display of rehabilitation gifts for the Veterans Hospital will be shown. Polk faculty women wives of faculty servicemen's wives and mothers plus Junior Auxiliary members are invited as special guests and all Auxiliary members urged to attend.

Robert Renquist 35 died Monday evening in Cody Wyoming. Survived by wife Lois and four children at home and parents Leonard and Mrs Renquist Benedict and sister Mrs Don Wolf Stromsburg. Funeral services are pending. body to be brought back to Nebraska.
