Polk Community Club Plans Fourth Barbecue

The Polk Community Club met Monday May 19 with Wendy Redman guitar students entertaining for 30 minutes. Students Lynelle Meerkatz Becky Brazda Robin Brazda Jodi Widga Edd Coover Kathie Bender and Jerri Harrington performed group and solo numbers. Plans were made for a Fourth of July barbecue and fireworks with committees named. Donations to the Summer Recreation Fund totaled 2876 50 with gifts from Country Woman's Club Reuben Anderson and others noted.

Obituary for John R Sundberg of Polk and family

John Raymond Sundberg born January 12 1900 on a Polk County farm died May 24 1975 at Bryan Memorial Hospital age 75. He married Edna Jones in 1919 and had three children. Survived by Edna, son Harvey and wife Irene of Polk two daughters Delores Johnson and Ramona Stromberg, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother Lawrence Sundberg and wife Edna of Rockford Indiana. Memorial services May 27 at First Baptist Church Polk. Interment Lindale Cemetery near Polk.

The Polk County Historical Society will dedicate the sod house at the county museum grounds in Osceola on Sunday June 1 at 2 pm. A short program will honor all who lived in or slept in a sod house and invite them to share memories. Contact Mildred Flodman before 2 pm.
