The Woods bring five and a half years at Dannebrog First Baptist and three years at Venango Community church and Denver origins. Troy Paul and Mark are aged 7 9 and 12 and will attend local grades. First meeting Thursday Prayer Service and sermon Sunday May 31. Vacation Bible School June 8 for two weeks mornings only.

Alumni Association marks golden year with banquet

In observance of Memorial Day on May 30, Polk County businesses will close at their standard times on Saturday and remain open Friday evening May 29. A cash drawing occurs at 9 p.m. Friday with Lloyd Widge named as the $50 winner from last Saturday.

Speech Therapist Appointed for Polk County Program 1964-65
Polk County launches a county wide speech therapy program for 1964 65 with four schools Polk Osceola Stromsburg and Shelby participating. Larry Hanson will serve as the speech therapist traveling among the schools and moving to Stromsburg around June 1. Hanson formerly worked in York Public Schools for two and a half years and holds a BS from the University of Nebraska while pursuing an MA. Betty Majors Polk County Superintendent led the initiative with state education officials and local superintendents.

Garden Club Meets With Mrs Sundberg
The Polk Garden Club met at Mrs. Oscar Sundberg's home on Tuesday afternoon May 19 with nine members present. Mrs. Martin Hoffman Sr. led the business meeting and Mrs. Orlie Miller, substituting for Mrs. Irene Carlson, directed the program. Members shared garden produce and canning recipes and copied the ones they wanted. After adjournment Mrs. Sundberg and Mrs. Ollie Baker served a lunch.

Summer Recreation Program Starts in June
Bill Lavelle will again direct the summer recreation program for Polk and vicinity. Boys will be divided into two baseball age groups and girls will have softball practice one evening a week. Contributions to the summer recreation fund may be left at the Progress office or Polk Oil Company.
