Polk County Commissioners Meet. Audits and Claims Voted

Polk County Nebraska board met May 16 1950 in regular session with all members present. Claims were audited and warrants drawn for various funds including salaries for officials and deputies, office supplies, and road and relief expenditures. A resolution allocates 6000 for county road improvements outside city limits. The board adjourned to June 6 1950.

4-H Judging Day set for Columbus June 9 covering Boys and Girls projects with leaders and members learning judging. Womens Extension Club Tea planned June 8 at Methodist Church in Shelby with guest invitations and good attendance. 4-H club year ends soon as Canary Sheets arrive. June 10 deadline to exhibit at State Fair. May 31 4-H winners travel to Lincoln for club week. Polk county delegates include Sheralee Hill Dor othy Sharp Rugene Lees and Bob Hopwood.

Nebraska Bond Drive Aims For Eleven Million In E Bond Sales

Nebraska's Independence Drive toward an 11 million dollar goal in E bond sales before July 4 was launched Monday May 15. Ceremonies in Omaha and other parts of the state marked the kickoff and urged participation.

Liberty Bell replica tours Nebraska during Independence Drive

Three thousand volunteer bond salesmen from county committees mobilize for the Independence Drive. Nebraska’s Liberty Bell replica will tour the state arriving May 25 in Omaha and stopping in Lincoln Wahoo and Fremont during its first week. The bell is one of 52 donated to the Treasury by six American copper companies.

Osceola H S Graduate Joins Crouse-Tex Drug Store

Miss Geneva Ward, fresh Osceola high school graduate, accepted a job at the Crouse-Tex drug store and began work last week. Mr and Mrs Dale Lloyd and children left for Omaha after visiting her father Guy F Ball and family. Mr and Mrs Lee Snodgrass and Jimmy of Lincoln spent the weekend in Osceola with Mildred Snodgrass and family.
