All-Sports Banquet crowns 1962 royalty at Doane College

The 1962 All-Sports banquet named Beverly Ekdahl and Regy Greeny as queen and king with Elaine Ostrander and Darwin Hahn as attendants. Dennis Van Housen hosted, Al Papik spoke, and presentations included letter awards, pep club honors, and state level recognitions. Ladies from Immanuel Lutheran Church served the meal.

Services Held For Infant Son Rodney Dean

Infant Rodney Dean Donelson died shortly after birth at Central City on May 11. Funeral services were held May 14 in the Lat Chapel with Rev. Walter Marshall officiating. Burial followed in Central City Cemetery. He is survived by paternal grandparents Ralph Donelson Central City and maternal grandparents Harvey Lind Polk, plus aunts and uncles.

Polk Cubs finish year with 1st in 880 relay as Arlan Stromberg Max Kroger Regy Green and Darwin Hahn clock 1 35 7. Hahn anchors to move from second with 120 yards to go. Hahn broad jumps 20 6 14 for fifth. Team earns seven points tying 12th of 111 in Class D. Lanny Ang fails to place in shot put. Decatur wins Class D with 1914 points followed by DeWitt 1812.

Class Night And Honors Convocation Awards Recited

Honors Convocation on May 15 featured multiple awards. Joyce Stewart won the outstanding music award and the I Dare You leadership prize. Linda Johnson and Cheryl Stohl received top senior and homemaker awards respectively. Regy Green earned best all around senior boy and leadership honors. Alvin Eisler gained Danforth Foundation leadership recognition. Salutatorian medals went to Myrna Merchant and Regy Green. valedictorian medals honored Jean Larkin and Joan Larkin. Myrna Merchant also earned the eighth grade citizenship award.
