Mark Sandell Wins Regents Scholarship at Polk High

Polk High School announces Mark A. Sandell has earned a Regents Scholarship from the University of Nebraska, ranking in the top 10 percent of Nebraska high school seniors and among the 300 recipients. He also won a $100 Great Plains CYF award and another $100 top prize in the York Elks Best Student Contest. Sandell will attend Bethel College in St Paul to study accounting.

Pauline Hahn Wins 1400 Four Year Music Scholarship

Pauline Hahn daughter of Mr and Mrs Dwayne Hahn of Hordville earned superior ratings at a district music contest in Fullerton and has consistently entered saxophone and piano solos with top marks. She attended the All State Fine Arts program at the University of Nebraska in 1968 and 1969 and will study at Midland College Fremont with a 1400 annual four year music scholarship.

Children of Mrs. C. F. Alfred plan a reception in the Baptist church parlors Sunday afternoon May 10 from 2 30 to 4 30 honoring their mother. Friends are cordially invited to attend.

Sixth Grade Field Trip Plans For Columbus Wednesday

The sixth grade will visit Columbus sites including Loup Power House airport police department Saunders Archery and Platte County Court House with Wooden Sole Shoe Company as a backup. The Warren Bedient fund is reported at 35 dollars and funds are to be added to Polk Progress.

Polk School asks patrons not to visit during final two weeks

The Polk School administration and faculty request no visitations by patrons in the last two weeks of the school year. They thank readers for past cooperation and anticipate the same this year.

194 Students Vaccinated In Polk School Immunization Drive

An immunization program at Polk schools offered diphtheria tetanus and oral polio shots. Dr Loschen and two registered nurses inoculated 194 students. The Pork Woman's Club sponsored the effort with many volunteers aiding, plus appreciation for Supt. Nielsen's help.

Odds and Ends 4 H Club Meeting

The 4 H Club met at the Robert Willits farm for a monthly session. Members planned activities with older boys enrolled in welding. Lunch was served by Mrs. Robert Willits as noted by reporter Rodney Hanquist.

Walt Lind family and Alvena Lind joined Dean Donelson home guests in Central City. Vance Stohl of Lincoln stayed with parents Walter and family. Ted Dittmer and family joined Bob Dittmer for Friday supper and birthday celebration.
