Delay The Grazing On Native Rangeland

Agricultural guidelines advise delaying grazing of native warm season grasses until late spring and avoiding overgrazing. Do not graze pastures before June 10 to 20 and aim to take no more than half of the current year’s growth to maintain root food reserves. Apply nitrogen to cool season grasses early and spray weeds around June 10 if needed.

Veterans GI Bill aids millions with education and earnings

The VA reports 12.4 million veterans educated over 26 years under three GI Bills with a total investment of 21.7 billion dollars. Current training allowances total about 6,300 dollars for a 36 month degree, while census data show lifetime earnings rise by about 213,000 dollars versus high school only. The IRS expects roughly 40,000 in taxes on the additional income, and director C. W. Nixon says the government recoups over six times its initial 6,300 investment. Last year nationwide VA education program participation peaked at 1,025,000 in November, a 31 percent rise from 783,000 in November 1969.
