Alternate Crops Named for Diverted Acres in 1967 Program

Farmers in the 1967 feed grain program are told which alternate nonsurplus crops may be planted on diverted acreage. Castor beans guar sesame plantage ovate mustard seed crambe and others are listed. Per acre payments fall when diverted land is used for these crops, with deductions varying by farm size and program rules. No diversion exists for the 1967 wheat program.

Reseal Soybeans Program Announced For 1966 Crop

A reseal loan program for 1966 crop soybeans stored on farms under price support loans offers three options: redeem loans, deliver to the Commodity Credit Corporation, or reseal to earn storage payments. Loans on resealed beans may be called by CCC by August 1, 1968. Nebraska holds 1,250,000 bushels under price support loans with additional warehouse loans totaling 1,750,000 bushels.

Mrs Ruth Bills entertained a group of ladies Tuesday afternoon in honor of Mrs Chauncey Gustafson s birthday. Guests included Mrs C Gustafson Mrs Wilmer Bodine Mrs Ewart Klingsporn Mrs Emma Johnson Mrs Benson and Esther Peterson. Sunday dinner honored the baptism of Craig Allan Van Housen with Mr and Mrs Dennis Van Housen hosting.

Soybean price support for 1967 set at 2.50 per bushel

The U S Department of Agriculture announces a national average price support of 2.50 per bushel for the 1967 soybean crop. Richard C. Sealey notes the level is 77 percent of February parity and supports continued grower income while tying to market prices. Loans and purchases through ASC county offices run until shortly before July 31, 1968.

Weekend visits span several Nebraska towns

Mr and Mrs Elwood Sandell and Kendall were Sunday dinner guests of Pastor and Mrs Gene Wood and family. Mr and Mrs Wallace Larson of Stromsburg and Mr and Mrs Don Shostrom were Omaha visitors on Sunday. Mr and Mrs Floyd Quick of Circle Montana were Wednesday visitors of Mrs Ruth Bills. A week ago Sunday Mrs A E Swanson was among guests at the Rolland Swanson home in Stromsburg to honor Janet s 14th birthday. Mr and Mrs Douglas Smith and family of Julesburg Colorado spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Earl Stevens and Dennis.
