Leon Stunkel to Compete in State Legion Oratorical Contest
Leon Stunkel of Polk will represent Nebraska in the state Legion oratorical contest at Wilber on March 27 after winning the district event at Howells on March 12. He earned a $25 bond at districts. The state winner receives a $75 bond and a medal, with the national regional contest in early April. Second and third in Nebraska receive $50 and $26 bonds respectively.

Mrs Lillie King 97 Dies in York Hospital
Mrs Lillie King of York and mother of Mrs Chas Lytle died Monday at York General Hospital at age 97. She was known in Polk County for staying at the Lytle home at various times. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Metz Mortuary at 12 PM with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
