Corner Cafe reflections reveal Polk community characters and old phone era

Engagement of Alice Reetz to Marvin Louthan Announces

Mr and Mrs Norman Reetz of Lincoln announce the engagement of their daughter Alice Kathryn to Marvin James Louthan son of Mr and Mrs Jack Louthan. Miss Reetz teaches at Josephs College of Beauty and Mr Louthan studies at Milford Vocational Technical School. A June 23 wedding is planned.

Polk WSCS Meets In Community Hall

The WSCS of the Methodist church met Thursday afternoon March 2 in the Polk Community Hall with program committee members in charge. The program Story of Easter was shown on colored slides. Gwen Lindburg and Janice Saylor sang a duet and the congregation sang the closing WSCS song. Hostesses served about 50 guests and a receptionist assisted.

Eastern Star Meeting Hosts District Supervisor Diehl

The Willanna Chapter of the Eastern Star met February 22 with District Supervisor Bernice Diehl from Pender as host. An afternoon of instruction was conducted followed by dinner guests and a 6:30 supper by the American Legion Auxiliary. A special meeting convened at 8 o'clock.

Trinity Low Meets in Church March 1

The Trinity Lutheran Low group met in the church basement on Wednesday March 1 with Alvertus Jones presiding. A Fifth District Assembly will be at Kearney on March 29. members planning to go should contact Jones or Fern Myers by March 23. A committee was formed to purchase an Easter lily. Articles for servicemen boxes are requested for the next meeting. Lampshire Family Meets Son Wayne in Lincoln Visit

Mr and Mrs Gilbert Lampshire welcome their son Wayne from Bogota Colombia to Lincoln on Saturday. After visiting his parents he plans to travel to San Francisco for a month of study and training.
