The Kearney tubercular hospital asks Congress for a 50 thousand dollar appropriation via H R No 468 with an emergency clause. Liability Insurance Waiting On Bankers in Nebraska

Secretary William B. Hughes of the Nebraska Bankers Association said a $5 000 reward for dead bank robbers is not yet in effect. After 700 bankers signed for liability insurance only 320 have approved, at 50 cents per member per year, due to idleness of bank bandits.

Humboldt Winner Music Contest At Peru State Teachers College

The Humboldt High School team topped a field of nearly thirty schools at a music contest hosted by Peru State Teachers College. Dale Reid and Frank Jenkins won first in cello and tenor solos, Elmer Park took a second in saxophone, and the girls glee club finished third.

Shelton Academy Wins Sugar Beet Cup at Grand Island

The American Beet Sugar Company awarded Shelton Academy the prize for the largest 5 to 15 acre sugar beet crop in 1928. The academy received a silver cup and a 100 pound sack of sugar. Five acres produced 17.43 tons per acre irrigated from a well, at $6.50 per ton, netting about $110 per acre.

Heavy Shipment Of Farm Products From McCook Area

A 1928 survey shows the McCook farming territory shipped 908 carloads of produce including grain 372 cattle 74 hogs 172 sheep 10 sugar beets 162 eggs 35 live poultry 28 dressed poultry 16 hides 2 scrap iron 14 and 23 carloads of miscellaneous merchandise. Cream shipments totaled 10545 cans and many truckloads were sent out.
