The Pleasant Homemakers 4 H club met at Marlene Anderson home with eight members and one associate. Roll call answered with Health Rule. Sondra Hill demonstrated Care of Feet. Members are updating records for 25 projects including Keep Well and Garden Poultry Cooking Yard Beautification Tractor and Sewing. Lunch was provided by Mar Jene and Mrs. Forrest Anderson.

Emil Eric Samuelson born January 7 1882 in Fillmore County Nebraska died June 19 1950 at his home near Polk aged 68 years 6 months 177 days He moved with his family to Phelps County at age 11 and to Polk County in 1914 He married Josie Ehn May 4 1911 They had four children Louise Hilmer Adeline Harless and Dean He joined Evangelical Free Church in 1939 serving as deacon Funeral services were held at Brauer Funeral Home and Evangelical Free Church Interment Polk Cemetery Many relatives and friends attended from Denver Holdrege Oakland Grand Island Norfolk and other towns

Alphe Levene of Grand Island is named station agent at Polk and he and his wife will live in the Benson property two blocks west of the bank. The Levenes have two boys and a girl. Henry Renquist of Benedict and family visited Mrs. Hennie Seymour. Bobby will stay with grandparents Ranquist this summer. Mrs. Anna Appleton left for San Francisco to visit daughter and husband Mrs. Raymond Poland. Home Society members enjoyed a Wednesday afternoon gathering hosted by Mrs. Sadie Clark. Anton Wilhelms had an appendectomy at Osceola hospital and returned home Saturday.

Swimming Lessons Begin at Osceola Pool in July

Notice states Stroms burg and Polk residents may start swimming lessons at the Osceola Swimming Pool on July 3 at 10 o'clock. Mr and Mrs Frank Nelson and their sons returned to Gothenburg after two weeks in Polk. Mrs Nelson recuperated with her parents in Gothenburg after surgery in Omaha. Mother Daughter Banquet Held at Swede Plain Church

About 100 attended the Mother-Daughter Banquet at Swede Plain church Friday. Mrs. Arthur Samuelson led as toastmistress while Mrs. Russell Fjell and Mrs. Willard Adelson organized music. A candle lighting service closed the program.

Bible School Opens at Polk Methodist Church

Bible School opened Monday afternoon at Polk Methodist Church with 72 children attending. Mrs. Glenn Hill leads as general superintendent and Rev Paul Walker handles devotionals. Music is directed by Janet Sundberg with Lois Johnson on piano, and a full teaching staff covers pre school through eighth grade. Sessions run daily in the church basement and a program is planned Sunday at 8 p.m.
