Mr and Mrs Harold Carlson of Polk announce the engagement of their daughter Marie Nadine to Carl H Brown son of Mr and Mrs A M Brown of York. Marie a Polk High School graduate 1967 will be a junior at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Carl a York High School 1964 graduate and University of Nebraska 1968 alumnus is a Voc Ag teacher at Ashland. An August 16 wedding is planned.
Mr and Mrs A A Shockey observe their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house at their home on June 29 from 2 to 4 PM. Hosts include Fred and Freda Shockey Mr and Mrs Harry Kennel and Mr and Mrs Virgil Tenniges. Friends and relatives are invited.

Mr and Mrs Marvin Branting announced their son Sgt Leslie W Branting was wounded in Vietnam on June 17 by fragment at an air base under heavy fire. He sustained a right hand wound, was treated, and will be returned to duty. This marks his second wounding after an Easter Sunday telegram reporting leg wounds.
The Wayne State College Dean's honor roll for term two lists 403 students with 3.2 or higher. Dennis Sealey of Polk, a junior with a 3.25 average, is among those honored after enrolling in at least 12 credit hours.
