Roy King Perkins born June 2 1906 in Iowa died June 7 1971 at his Bradshaw Nebraska home at age 64. He traveled in a covered wagon dealing in horses and later in livestock and helped raise relatives after his sister’s death. Survived by sister in law Dorothy Perkins Arborville nephew Abner Loudon Camarillo niece Dorothy Loudon Rhoads Camarillo and many relatives. Mrs Patricia Clem Prososki of Omaha daughter of Mrs Anna Kisler earns an honorary life membership in the Nebraska Congress of Parents and Teachers for outstanding service to children and youth. She receives a plaque and a pin.
The scoreboard fund grows by 25 dollars from an anonymous donor during the week. At a meeting with school officials the district agreed to finance a scoreboard for football and baseball with extra funds raised by the Polk Community Club. Over 700 dollars remains to be raised. Donations are accepted at the Progress office or into the scoreboard fund account at the bank. The Progress reports combine the school fund with additional gifts.
Polk girls beat Gresham 9-6 at Polk June 11 and face Benedict June 18. Pee Wee girls won 20-18 over Benedict, after a 9-5 loss to Gresham last week. next game at Waco June 21. Sunday June 6 rainouts rescheduled for Thursday with 12-14 and 15-17 boys basebal l teams against Gresham. Recreation Fund gains $120 this week raising total to $366.39 with several donors listed.

Lois Millsap of Central City received word of the sudden death of her brother Paul Millsap age 71 Monday at his home in Estherville Iowa. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in Estherville. Mr and Mrs Paul Millsap lived for years south of Hordville. Mrs Millsap, former Mabel Carlson, grew up near Polk, daughter of John and Mrs Carlson.

The Polk County Local Board No. begins a new schedule due to budget cuts. Starting the week of June 13, the office will be open 1 to 5 PM on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday and closed Monday and Friday. County Judge Eldon R. Johnson to serve as Registrar on closed days or when the Executive Secretary is absent.
The Foster and Adoptive Parents Club hosted an annual picnic in Lincoln drawing families who have adopted or fostered children. Attendees described diverse kids and shared experiences while emphasizing openness to questions, urging interest in adoption and foster care.
