Death of Ira W Blair at 5:15 PM in York Nebraska

Ira W Blair died Thursday afternoon after two weeks of deteriorating health at his York County farm. Born December 25, 1863 in Alabama, he moved to Nebraska in 1883 and settled in York. Survived by widow Mary E Blair three sons George Ira Jr and Harry of York two daughters Mrs Hugh Johnson of Bradshaw and Mrs B L Hedrick of Raymondville Texas nine grandchildren. Long Island sailor finds nine year wait on lonely isle

4-H Judging Day Drives Countywide Practice Sessions

Polk county 4-H club members and leaders will judge on Thursday June 17 at Aurora and Friday June 18 at David City starting 9 30 a m. The Ladies Auxiliary met at Mrs. John Gestrine's home Monday afternoon. Visitors included Mrs. Roy Morgan and daughter from Osceola. Mrs. Co. Davis and sons left for a two month vacation with her husband in Laramie Wyoming. Reuben and Harlan Branting of North Platte spent a few days. Johnson and Martha and Glen attended the funeral of Clinton Schelihase near Overton last Sunday, returning Tuesday after visiting relatives.

The Hordville High School banquet gathered about 90 alumni and a few former teachers in the high school gym last Friday. The event used the Little Red School House theme with toastmistress Miss Marie Weberg officiating with verses. Speakers touched on Readin, Ritin, Rithmetic, and Recess as Prof. Van Miller performed a vocal solo. Officers for the past year were Pauline Phillips president, R. C. Gustafson vice president, and Marie Weberg secretary and treasurer.

Car overturns after tire blowout near Hordville injures Werner family

Mr and Mrs Ray Werner and their daughter and Miss Evelyn Wolfe of Benedict were slightly bruised and got bad bumps when a tire blew out and their car overturned one mile west of Hordville Monday evening. The car was badly damaged and taken to J B Myers garage.

Reunion Brings Jones Family Visitors From California

Mr and Mrs Ivan D Jones and daughter Shirley Mae visit Mrs F W Davis in Nebraska. Davis is Jones sister in law. Also Elmer Allen and daughters join at the Davis home. Jones plan to extend trip to New York State then return in early July for another visit.

Osceola Pool Opens Season With Record Attendance

The Osceola swimming pool opened Sunday to enthusiastic crowds from nearby towns with season tickets sold. Manager Lester Peters overseers Margarite Hartman Walter Calhoun and Bob Mills ensure strict sanitary conditions and chemically treated water similar to drinking water. The pool is praised as one of Nebraska's finest and over $100 in admission tickets was collected on opening day.
