Irvin L. Anderson aged 73 died Monday at York Hospital after a 10 month illness. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 00 p.m. at Polk Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Hopkins officiating, burial in Polk Cemetery. Obituary next week.

Polk Woman's Club Honors Mrs Hopkins With Gift

The Polk Woman's Club honored Virginia Hopkins at a Tuesday coffee before her move. President Erma Adelson presented a club gift. In a brief meeting the group voted to sell homemade ice cream bars and cake on July 4.

Dr Lois I Johnson, Polk High School graduate, chosen as Notable American Educator of 1976 77. Selections were made for the Bicentennial Era by a committee of notable Americans. Her biography will appear in the 1976 77 Notable Americans Bicentennial Era. Johnson serves a three year term on the executive board of the Association for Childhood Education International. Father is Philip Johnson of Polk community.

Funeral services were held Tuesday June 14 for Frank Robert F Cohagan who died Friday June 10 in a Lincoln hospital. Pastor Willis Pauls and Robert Hopkins officiated with Mrs James Lindburg singing The Lord s Prayer and In the Garden. Interment in Arborville Cemetery. arrangements by Salt Funeral Home Polk. Survivors include widow Edna one son Gerald of Denver three daughters Carol Green Utica Chester Hatfield Denver and Donna Graham Denver along with three sisters two brothers thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Rev Hopkins Family Honored At Farewell Dinner

The Rev. Robert Hopkins family received a 1977 Good Neighbor Award at a farewell service and noon dinner after an 11 am church service in Polk. About 75 attended as authorities Rolland Stromberg Glenn Hill Dwight Burney Marvin Fredrickson Richard Sealey Sr and Mrs Vergil Bush organized the event. A Love Gift was presented to the Hopkins prior to their move this week to Bloomfield to serve Verdigre and Bloomfield Methodist congregations.

The Salvation Army annual appeal, sponsored by the Polk Woman's Club, raised 274.50 with donations from Polk County 86.00, Polk residence 138.50, Polk business 44.00, Country Woman's Club 3.00, and Polk Woman's Club 3.00.
