Auxiliary Meets at Legion Hall in June Gathering
The American Legion Auxiliary met Monday afternoon June 12 at the Legion Hall. Mrs. Oscar Jones led the business session as the group received a $25 gift from Mrs. Frank Larson. The nominating committee proposed officers for the new year: President Orpha Davis Vice President Loretta Newhous Secretary Ivan Cramer Treasurer Irene Green. Plans discussed for a July or August picnic and July Grand Island hospital opening. Dues were paid for the new year before State Convention. The social hour was led by the Activity committee with two piano solos by Arthur Bates. A two course lunch followed for 29 members hosted by Edna Sund, Claire Willitts and Frank Bolton.

Clarence W Recknor born July 12 1880 near York Nebraska died June 7 1950 aged 69 years 10 months 25 days after a heart attack. He grew up near Arborville attended Crete Academy and Doane College married Bessie Kemper in 1914 and had three children Edward Doris Lindholm and Mary Elizabeth Williams. He served as church clerk and Deacon of Arborville Congregational Church and was active in Polk Masonic Lodge. Clarence Recknor aged 69 who lived six miles south of Polk died Wednesday afternoon June 7. He leaves a wife two daughters Mrs Laverne Williams Vancouver Washington and Mrs Wayne Lindholm Polk a son Edward Reckner Arborville and a sister Mrs Raleigh Merchant Arborville. Funeral services were Sunday at 2 30 at the Arborville church with Rev Edick Anderson officiating and burial in Arborville cemetery.
