Local sportsman seeks Champion Fisherman title
Butch Mills, a local sportsman, applied for the Champion Fisherman title. He fished the Loup River last Saturday with Mrs Mills and Mr and Mrs Art Lowes of Hordville. They caught over 47 pounds, including an 18 pound catfish that fed Sunday dinner. After landing the big fish the river water dropped a foot, spoiling subsequent fishing.

The state railway commission approved about 25 miles of rural electrification by private utilities in Nebraska. Eleven applications were approved, with extensions from under one mile to over nine miles, built by Nebraska Light and Power and Western Public Service. Chairman Floyd L. Vacation Bible School Enrollment Attracts 80
The Vacation Bible School of the Baptist and Free Evangelical churches opened May 31 with 80 attendees. A strong teaching staff leads classes across divisions from High School to Primary. Mrs Anna Swenson Johnson born November 22, 1859 in Jemshog Sweden died May 26 1937 at age 77 years 6 months 4 days at home in Silver Creek. She came to America in 1873, married O Charles Johnson August 17 1882 and lived on farms near Malmno and Osceola before moving to Silver Creek in 1928. Funeral held May 29 at 2 p m with Rev Paul Melin. burial in Osceola cemetery.

Three Injured in Crash Near Clarks
Mecham the truck driver from Clarks and Los Angeles residents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zuboff suffered multiple injuries in a Sunday afternoon crash near Clarks. Mecham is at St. Francis hospital with a skull fracture but has a good prognosis. The Zuboffs received emergency care at St. Francis and were transferred to Lincoln hospital with fractures to a forearm thigh and ankle respectively.

High Prairie Alumni Celebrate Tenth Anniversary Banquet
The High Prairie Alumni Association marked its tenth anniversary with a banquet at the high school auditorium on Thursday evening May 27. A picnic was set for Osceola on Sunday afternoon June 6.
