Morning birding trip along the Platte yields Indigo bunting
A pair of birders, including Swede and Beth Cowgill, spend sunrise along the Platte River from Silver Creek to Havens bridge. They identify 19 species, note dickcissels, blue grosbeaks, a yellow-throat warbler, goldfinches, and finally spot an Indigo bunting, with light debate over a sparrow hawk versus pigeon hawk. Beth earns a clear view of the blue-banded male cardinal and other shorebirds.
