Funeral services for Bryan Anderson were held in Sheridan Wyoming on Friday with burial at Custer National Cemetery. He was a former Polk resident and brother of Mrs Anna Kisler and Mrs Richard Johnson.
The community reports $408.23 raised for the recreation fund after a week of donations. Boys from midget and peewee teams will play a double header with Bradshaw, while girls softball teams meet Clarks on Wednesday. Previous totals include gifts from Reuben Anderson and others.
The Polk County Fair runs August 7 8 at Osceola with 4 H day and a home talent show. Grand Ole Opry stars Duke of Paducah Dick Flood Cates sisters Autry Inman perform August 8 Jolly Riders Saddle Club featured. Prizes include a dairy calf livestock trophies and county dress trophy. Mrs Alvina Reeb age 74 lifelong Polk resident died Friday at her Polk home from a cerebral hemorrhage. She is survived by husband Henry two daughters Mrs Arvilla Rehrs and Mrs Leila Ramsey of Polk two brothers Will and Louis Polk two sisters Mrs Minnie Smith and Mrs Charles Wilshusen York funeral services were Monday at Trinity Lutheran Polk Rev B A Barnell with interment in Arborville cemetery. County extension agent Gary Garey announces the four cent federal gas tax refund for gasoline used in farming from July 1, 1963, to June 30, 1964. Farmers should use form 2240, available at the extension office, and mail it to the District Director of Internal Revenue in Omaha by September 30, 1964.
Hans Willadsen leads 41 music students in a band program revealing strong ensemble progression. The piece list includes National anthems and classic songs such as Hello My Baby and Star Spangled Banner, indicating a patriotic recital with varied repertoire.

Mrs May Johnson was discharged from Osceola hospital on Saturday after a three week stay. The report notes her recent hospitalization and release from care.
Pat Funk, 1961 Polk High School graduate and daughter of Mrs Vivian Funk, ranked on the University of Nebraska second semester honor roll with a grade average of eight out of nine. She attends summer school and works as a secretary in the Nebraska Secretary of State office in the Capitol.
Ken Anderson, Christian author and film producer, will headline the Evangelical Free church family camp at Polk Bible Camp in Winona Lake Indiana. Event runs Friday July 31 through Sunday August 1 with services 7:30 pm Friday and Sunday 11 am and 2:45 pm rally. Public invited.
The 1963 Polk High School annuals have arrived and may be picked up at the Walter Nielsen residence.
The first annual Polk County 4-H Fat Beef sale will occur during the 1964 County Fair at the fairgrounds. The sale of beef calves starts at 3 30 p m on Friday August 7 with packing companies and local auctioneers assisting and calves identified for buyers after settlement.
