Polk County Fair Dates and Plans Announced for August Event
The Polk County Fair will run August 24 to 26 with free acts at the grandstand and a strong emphasis on agricultural exhibits and machinery displays. Cattle hog shows, saddle horse event replacing draft horse, and a new floor in the 4-11 building are noted. Grandstand admissions apply. entertainment by Williams and Lee Attractions and Hale Shows is planned. landscaping and improvements to the fairgrounds form part of a long term plan. Mrs Harvey E Curren Laid To Rest
Frances Marian Conrad daughter of John and Louisa Conrad was born February 20 1883 in Armington Illinois. She died July 10 at York General Hospital aged 65 years four months and 21 days. She married Harvey Curren of Polk September 1 1909 and had nine children. The family lived in Polk then Bradshaw moving two years ago. Funeral services were held at Arborville Congregational Church with Rev Larkins and Rev Eaton and burial in Arborville cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Maurice Lind burg and others traveled to Lincoln for a picnic dinner at Carl Steelquest home in honor of Carl's birthday. They toured Inspiration House and Pioneer Park, attended Singfest at Pine Bowl, where Bishop Gerald Kennedy gave his farewell address to about 3000 people.
