Spring to Summer and Small-Town Life in Polk
A nostalgic Polk column recounts spring’s arrival, summer weather, Fourth of July crowds, and visits from locals and former residents. It notes a tax demand from the IRS over a 1964 return, the Commercial Club’s finances, and a new Los Angeles family moving into Polk as a tree surgeon. The post office reopens in a remodeled room, and the writer humorously accepts a plaque for promoting summer recreation.
