Polk County Fair Dates Set for August
Polk County Agricultural Society announces the Polk County Fair will run August 21 22 and 23 this year. A new Strong Amusement Company carnival and free acts by Williams and Lee and Jerry Hedrick are planned. Events include baseball tractor derby riding show and more with prizes in the National Crochet Contest offering a $500 grand prize and a trip to New York City or Chicago. Soil Conservation District notes and dam projects update
The district reports scarce brome seed this spring and urges harvesting of cool season grasses for seed yields. Soil Conservation Service teams plan irrigation designs on the Monson-Dittmer and Sack-Leech farms, with several new dams completed to protect spillways. Demonstrations on waterway prep and seeding were held on Johnson and Meisters farms with the Wet-On-Farm instructor leading student participation.

Youth Fellowship Conducts Sunday Services at Methodist Church
