Polk Girls Hot District Title Run Ends In Double Elimination
The Polk high school softball team clinched the district title after a long Sunday, defeating Niemann's of Grand Island 19-8 in the final. Earlier they beat York 17-7, then Schaft's Cate 22-3, and Aurora 12-7 after a disputed play. Connie Jensen Gail Widga and Carla Myers pitched as Polk overcame Niemann's twice to stay alive, with a 17-10 win and a late 5 inning rally for the title.

Polk SWCD Supervisors to Be Elected This Fall
Terms of Robert Bryan Maurice Newcomer and Rudolph Nyberg on the Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District board expire December 31 and will be filled at this fall election.
