Guest Day Program At Evangelical Free Church Draws 100

The Ladies Aid Society hosted 100 attendees for a Wednesday afternoon Guest Day. Ardis Nyberg performed a solo and Dorothy and Patty Stranberg sang two pieces. Guest speaker Miss Viola Ortegren of Marquette delivered songs and a talk. Miss Otterren also participated. Refreshments were served by Mesdames Wilmer Rodine Stanford Ang Reuben Hanquist and Roland Rodine.

Everett Green Elected New Commander of Post 160

Everett Green has been elected the new Commander of Post 160 to succeed Robert Baaek. Officers for the coming year include Henry Eisler as Vice Commander Dean Myers as Adjutant and Robert Steenbock as Finance Officer. Arnold Neuhaus and Alton Wilhelms were named delegates to the State Convention in Omaha August 17 18 19.

Commercial Club Takes Softball Lead

In a close game the Commercial Club built a late two run burst to beat Fredricksons 8 to 7 while Laverne Schulze Carlson and Ted Swanson homered. Knotholers overwhelmed Cornhuskers 29 to 7 with nine walks and twenty two hits. Johnsons fell to Commercial Club as the latter seized the league lead in a high error game. Shower for former Polk girl Edith Naslund hosts Doris Jones shower

Miss Edith Naslund was host, at Swede Plain Church, a miscellaneous shower for her niece Mrs George Jones of Moline Illinois. The bride, formerly Doris Anderson of Polk, received many ornamental and useful gifts for her new home. Thirty forty ladies attended as church ladies served refreshments.

A baby girl weighing 27 pounds 2 ounces was born July 1 at Lake Geneva Wisconsin to Mr. and Mrs. V J Johnson Jr. The unusual weight suggests OCR error but the event is a birth notice.

Last Rites Held For John P Monson

John P Monson 67 died May 30 in Los Angeles California. He married Pearl Wiley in 1935 and leaves a wife three stepsons two sisters three brothers and numerous relatives. Funeral services were June 4 at the Little Church of Flowers with burial at Forest Lawn Glendale California. Attendees from here included Mr and Mrs Emil Monson Mrs M O Johnson and Solene Mr and Mrs Joe Monson.

Neuhaus and Petersons Host Sunday Dinner Guests

Mr and Mrs Arnold Neuhaus and family hosted Sunday dinner guests Mr and Mrs Charles J Peterson and family. Mrs Earl Burke and Linda visited Polk last Saturday. Mrs Martha Myers, who had stayed in their home, returned to Polk with them. Mr and Mrs Paul Holmes traveled to Sioux City Iowa on Saturday for funeral services for Mrs Holmes sister in law Mrs DC HK Williams.
