The Polk clinic ends after years building a local practice. Patients will now travel to York for care as doctors move away from home visits, recalling Dr. J. B. Williams who treated at patients’ homes in the 1920s.
Pam Hoffman formerly Pam Oschberg, daughter of Nora Ostberg Stufft and the late Dean Ostberg, graduated May 14 1976 in a 8 p.m. ceremony at First United Methodist Church Lawton Oklahoma from Cameron University School of Nursing. She also earned an Associate Degree in Science that evening and served as president of Cameron Student Nurses Association in her final year. She is employed as a staff nurse at Southwestern Clinic Hospital in Lawton Oklahoma.
A group of Polk seniors requested park improvements and offered volunteer labor to paint park structures for the 4th of July celebration. The village agreed to provide white, aluminum and red paint. Eleven volunteers painted eleven tables and playground equipment from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. including swings, teeter totter, monkey bars, and a merry go round.
Mr Frank Cohagan entered York hospital Monday afternoon. Floyd Bittinger underwent surgery at York General hospital Friday morning.
Community donors including Neal Sandells Melvin Benders Glen Babcocks Gravel Grandma and Legion Auxiliary contribute to the recreation fund in a brief public notice. Names listed reflect support levels and local civic involvement.
Mr and Mrs Dick Mundt announce the birth of their son Edward Carl born Monday June 21 at York General Hospital weighing 6 pounds 15 ounces. Grandparents are Mrs Irene Mundt and Mr and Mrs Dean Myers.

The Bicentennial Committee asks residents to submit labeled photographs for a July 4 window display. Bring items to Sundberg Hardware and include the owner's name for return.
The Polk Market lists wheat at 3.35, corn 2.61, soybeans 6.05, oats 1.65 with harvest or sale figures. Social notices report Milton O Connor and Gina Borland visiting Gordon and Tulsa, Vern Jones visiting Isdna Sundberg, and Willits family reunion attendance of 113 at Buckley and Stromsburg.
Mr and Mrs Virgil Sorenson of Grand Island moved to Polk last Saturday and are now living in the Henry Worth residence they recently purchased.
Senior Citizens Bingo is set for Wednesday July 7 at 2 pm at Legion Hall with prizes and lunch hosted by former Polkite Mrs Orpha Due of York who invites friends. Mr and Mrs Tom Strong of Lincoln visited Winnie Whitacre and her sisters Wednesday evening as a young couple planned to move to Vancouver, British Columbia with Tom entering Vancouver Bible College in September. Mrs Roger Gustafson and Mr and Mrs Allan Pickrel attended Wednesday dinner at the Stephen Gustafson home. Bill Willits and Carol Ann of Denver visited Mildred Willits from Saturday to Sunday.
Former pastors and members gathered for Swede Plain United Methodist Church centennial on Sunday June 27 1976. Worship at 11 a.m. featured Pastor L Robert Holbrook and the sermon This Church in Todays World. An afternoon service at 2 p.m. included remarks from Verland Widga former pastors from Lincoln Gibbon Falls City Fairbury Gordon Lake Mills and others.
