Polk Doctor Closes Clinic After Years of Service

The Polk clinic ends after years building a local practice. Patients will now travel to York for care as doctors move away from home visits, recalling Dr. J. B. Williams who treated at patients’ homes in the 1920s.

Pam Hoffman Graduates from Cameron University Nursing School

Pam Hoffman formerly Pam Oschberg, daughter of Nora Ostberg Stufft and the late Dean Ostberg, graduated May 14 1976 in a 8 p.m. ceremony at First United Methodist Church Lawton Oklahoma from Cameron University School of Nursing. She also earned an Associate Degree in Science that evening and served as president of Cameron Student Nurses Association in her final year. She is employed as a staff nurse at Southwestern Clinic Hospital in Lawton Oklahoma.

Senior Citizens Paint Polk Park Equipment

A group of Polk seniors requested park improvements and offered volunteer labor to paint park structures for the 4th of July celebration. The village agreed to provide white, aluminum and red paint. Eleven volunteers painted eleven tables and playground equipment from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. including swings, teeter totter, monkey bars, and a merry go round.

Former pastors and members gathered for Swede Plain United Methodist Church centennial on Sunday June 27 1976. Worship at 11 a.m. featured Pastor L Robert Holbrook and the sermon This Church in Todays World.
