Polk Villageage Foreclosure Action On Delinquent Taxes

The Village of Polk begins foreclosure on thirty parcels after a district court suit filed December 23 of last year. Taxes totaling 22 072 94 as of November 1, 1936 range from 25 87 to 5978 49. Delinquent taxes date back to 1917, highlighting chronic nonpayment across Polk County and statewide. If foreclosures succeed, revenue returns to village, school district, and county.

Burgess Bedient Wedding Unites Harriet Burgess and Bred Bedient

The wedding occurred Wednesday at the Burgess home with Harriet Burgess marrying Bred Bedient of Wea. A double ring ceremony was led by Rev. E. E. Pengelly, with Rose Bedient playing the Bridal Chorus. The couple will live at Waco after a two course supper for seventeen. The bride, a Polk High School graduate and Polk Church member, and the groom, also Polk High School graduate, plan a future in Waco.

Osceola Obituaries and Local Notices In Osceola

Funeral services for George Rasmussen aged 92 were held by the Masonic order at Sepner’s Funeral Home. Arthur N. Johnson of Osceola died in Grand Island and his funeral will be held Friday at St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Obituary next week. Women’s Home Missionary Society meets next Tuesday. Osceola Dance Club postponed to next week. Local society notes include visits, illness, and school staff events with multiple residents and families named.

MISS KIRTLEY DECLINES OPERATION FOR ESOPHAGEAL CONDITION

Miss Viola Kirtley announced she will not undergo the operation once planned to restore her esophagus closed 26 years ago. She said there is only a remote chance of recovery and will rest a week then write her life story before returning to work with a Chicago publishing house. She denied any dispute with Dr Frank H Lahey and said she will not become a lifelong invalid.

Two Crops Meetings In Polk County Discuss Farm Practices

Polk county farmers are invited to two meetings with E F Frolik on January 28. At 1 30 P M in Scott's Hall Stromsburg and at 7 30 P M in the Osceola Court House.
