Promising March of Dimes Research Aids 1964

Nine projects funded by the March of Dimes reported progress in birth defect research for 1964. The National Foundation appropriated nearly $5 million for research and notes 51 Birth Defect Treatment Centers nationwide. Studies cover German measles testing, cell abnormalities in Hurler syndrome, congenital anomalies linked to mental retardation, dysautonomia, ataxia telangiectasia, autoimmunity with chromosome defects, chromosomal screening methods, G-6-PD enzyme variants, and congenital heart defect development in chick embryos.
