Lincoln-Otto Schafer sets Nebraska corn yield record

Nebraska farmer Lincoln-Otto Schafer of Nehawka broke the state record last year by 108 bushels per acre on his farm. He received 15 dollars and a gold medal from the Nebraska Crop Growers association during a Lincoln meeting. Nelson Berger and E H Schomaker of Nehawka finished second and third in the eastern division with 102 and 92 bushels per acre.

Mammoth Tusk Found Near Broken Bow by Nebraska Student

A nearly 12 foot mammoth tusk, unearthed on a Broken Bow area farm, is being viewed by Red Cloud members at the home of Bertrand Schultz, a Nebraska university student who located the specimen. The tusk was found about 15 feet underground. a fragment measured 8.16 feet, with the full tusk estimated at 12 feet.
