Boxer Baby Beef 4-H Club Meets in Polk Tuesday

The Boxer Baby Beef 4-H Club gathered at Polk Community Hall on Tuesday January 11 with 13 members. President Loren Oberg led the meeting. Rodney Beckstrom demonstrated making a rope leading halter. Members received record books and certificates. Lunch was served by Mrs Oberg and Mrs Beckstrom. Lyle Lindgren reports.

Wheat farmers can expect more in 1966

The Polk County ASCS Committee says 1966 wheat farmers in the voluntary program will see higher returns. Domestic food wheat is supported at 100 percent parity. Fifty percent of allotment yield will be eligible for certificates and a price support loan. certificates equal the gap between $1.25 loan rate and parity on July 1, 1966. Call before April 1 to sign up.

Methodist WSCS Holds Thursday Meeting

The Polk Methodist WSCS met Thursday afternoon January 6 with president Mrs Neil McNaught presiding. The program committee included Mrs Lawrence Shenk Mrs Albert Sundberg Mrs Richard Widga and Mrs Harold Jensen. Miss Janice Creech sang a vocal solo. A lunch was served by hostesses Mrs Earl Stevens Mrs Anna Kisler Mrs Ester Lackey and Mrs Harlan Peterson.

Mrs Grace Harless hosted the Friendship Birthday Club for a belated birthday party on Tuesday afternoon.
