Polk District Rural Power Line Protested
Protests to Polk County rural power district for a 23 mile transmission line and tie in with the Loup Columbus power house were raised by North Western Public Service and Continental Telephone of Columbus. At a Railway Commission hearing, the service company argued interference with Columbus and outlying areas. The telephone company warned its lines would also be affected. Consultant Henningson noted jurisdiction limits inside Columbus city. Attorney Flory argued the district could connect without crossing the city. Henningson said waivers from property owners would be needed if lines run outside town and REA funds do not cover such rights of way.
