Polk Square Dance Club Forms In Polk

New Year night saw a large turnout at the Community Hall for the second Polk square dance. Seven couples will lead the club next year including Mr and Mrs Charles Norquest and Mr and Mrs Max Jones. Officers will be chosen from the group with two dances monthly and the next event set for January 16.

Glen Schrader Nearing Military Discharge

Mr and Mrs Pate Schrader celebrate New Year with news from son Glen who phoned from Japan to San Francisco. The serviceman, after a long flight lasting thirty six hours, will report to Camp Carson Colorado and hopes to be home soon. He has served in the Korean war zone for most of his overseas duty.

Lawrence Gordan Buys Polk Theatre

Lawrence Gordan becomes owner of the Polk Theatre in a sale completed last Saturday. The Polk Theatre had been leased and operated by Arnold Neuhaus since early 1947, with the Polk Commercial Club taking over in December. The deal took effect Monday January 5.
