Christmas Day and Eve brought a parade of visitors to area homes. Mr and Mrs Melvin Bender hosted family in Clarks while Robert Willits and Pam hosted guests including Rod Johnson and Neal Van Housen. Santa arrived with treats as Diane Hetzer visited from Dallas.

The Polk County Historical Society held a December 19 meeting in Swede Haven Stromsburg with 37 attendees. Members shared Christmas themed reflections. Mrs Grace Moberg and Mrs Ella Koehler recited poems from school days. Enoch Ekstrand recalled Christmas Eve in Germany during WWII. Mr and Mrs John Falk celebrated their 61st anniversary and the society received the book Polka.

The Swede Plain United Methodist Women met at the church parlor on Wednesday evening December 11 at 6 30 for a supper with spouses and invited guests. Mrs Robert Clymer welcomed guests and led the business meeting, announcing corsages for missions for members with perfect attendance. The program included readings, carols, and musical performances by multiple members, followed by cookies and coffee.
