Women honored for leadership at Nebraska extension program

Nebraska county chairmen of project clubs and Rural Home Economics leaders gather at the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture for a three day program recognizing women’s leadership. Notable speakers include Mary Ellen Brown and a Iowa visitor.

Mrs Melin severely burned in heater fire incident

Osceola reports Mrs Paul Melin severely burned on the lower limbs when a Strom gas heater caught fire. She remains confined to bed under Dr Hare Ecklind care. Also notes Christmas party at Rebekah Kensington and a series of local social visits and drives around town with residents returning to Osceola for holidays.

Christmas visits and gatherings in Stromsburg area families

Mrs Elmer Kneer and sons of Chappell visited over Christmas at the S J Harless home. Mr and Mrs Gail Shay and Mr and Mrs Stanley Harless of Stromsburg were guests there. Mr and Mrs Raymond Johnson entertained. Clair Willits and family, and Walter Jones and daughter visited the Johnson home. New Year's Eve at Fay Beardsley home near Polk. About 50 attended Fredrickson reunion at Morris Richards home Friday. Miss Anna Forss spent weeks with relatives in Shenandoah and stays with her sister. Numerous other visits among Willits, Johnson, Fredrickson, and Moore families noted through the region.

Corn-Hog program meetings slated across Polk County

The Polk County Corn Hog allotment committee announces precinct meetings to explain the 1986-37 Corn-Hog contract and take applications for holding elections. Locations include Island Precinct and Valley Precinct with dates from January 7 to January 14 at various schools and halls. Local residents, including Mr and Mrs Glen and the Johnston family, were guests at Osceola and Silver Creek homes over the weekend.

Notice to Vehicle Owners on 1936 License Tax

Polk County Treasurer LeRoy M. Smith informs owners that 1936 license fees match 1935, with a new personal motor vehicle tax due before license issuance. Transfer of Bradshaw Route to Polk Route Named

Petition filed with the Port Department last summer reports eleven patrons of Bradshaw route moved to Polk route. Four miles of Bradshaw route added to Polk, patrons complain they prefer Polk territory. Osceola Area Christmas Guests and Local Visits
