Ladies Medical Self Help Lessons Begin March 4

The first in a women’s series titled Medical Self Help will be led by Mrs. Anita Eisler R N with Mrs. Ann O Shea R N. It meets Wednesday March 4 at 7 30 p m in the Polk Hotel Lobby. The first men’s class follows Thursday March 5 at 7 30 p m at the same location.

Final Rites Held Monday For Elmer H. Johnson

Elmer Herman Johnson, 77, died suddenly at Covenant Home in Stromsburg on February 21 after moving from Polk two weeks earlier for health reasons. Services were held at Polk Methodist Church with Rev. Johnson presiding, assisted by Rev. Molinder. Interment followed at Swede Plain cemetery.

Dr Vance Rogers to Speak at Nebraska Education Meeting

Dr Vance Rogers president of Nebraska Wesleyan will speak at the regional conference of the Governors Committee on Education at the Methodist Church in Stromsburg at 1 p.m. on March 2. A discussion session will follow for education problems. attendees may contact Mrs. Betty Majors.

Forrest Sedan Named Deputy City Building Inspector

Forrest Sedan of Boise Idaho has been employed as a deputy building inspector by the Boise City Department of Building and Zoning. Sedan 61 has worked in the building field since 1924 most recently as foreman with the Babbitt Construction Company of Boise. He was with that firm for 14 years after working as a self employed contractor for three years. Prior to that he was with construction firms in Boise Caldwell and Polk. Sedan now resides at 2514 Pleasanton Street in Boise.

Mrs Wayne Ramsey was admitted to a Kearney hospital on Tuesday February 18. Mrs Russell Fjell is in Osceola hospital after breaking her ankle in a fall.

A gathering at the Community Hall in Polk celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Andersons 40th wedding anniversary. Reuben Hanquist spoke of the couple’s life, with ruby decor and a red rose centerpiece. Guests from Clarks Central City Stromsburg Silver Creek and Polk attended.
