Notice to Rural Patrons and Local Meetings

Notice describes travel by Miss Hannah Sundburg Miss Lillie Pors and others to Stromsberg and Lincoln during the week and notes a revival at the M E church by Windle Bros from Lincoln. It adds Ed Stevens’s trip to Grand Island and mentions public sale notices and a Polk Progress subscription. Also announces a policy change that rural carriers will not collect loose coins from rural boxes starting February 15 and instructs patrons to enclose coins or use coin receptacles.

Deuel County Land Bargains Highlighted by Hartman

W W Hartman writes to the Progress praising Deuel County Nebraska and listing several land bargains near town. Four to four and a half section parcels are offered at 12.50 to 28.00 per acre with cash or easy terms, all within several miles of town. Hartman invites readers to visit Chappel to save money.

W. C. T. U. County Convention at Osceola

The county W. C. T. U. convenes February 11 and 12 at the M E church Osceola with a full two day program. Services include devotions, a Matrons Medal Contest, music by double quartets, debates on purity and activism, parliamentary drill, and a closing miscellaneous business session led by Secretary Stella Anderson.

School Notes and Local Updates

The next literary program is set for Friday February 4. The High School Male Quartett performed at Arborville Band Concert on Wednesday. Several new scholars entered this month. The Nebraska Teacher March issue will feature a drawing of the school building and a brief town history. No graduation exercises will be held this year due to a likely new grade. Patrons are urged to provide each family or scholar with a drinking cup to prevent sharing. The school cannot be responsible for street mischief after hours. IF. H. Hawk, Principal.
