Election of 1938 soil conservation precinct chairmen named

Farmers heard Howard L. Peterson discuss farm prices and trends for 1938 at precinct meetings. Following debates, 1938 precinct chairmen were elected for each area including Pleasant Home Hackberry Osceola Canada Island Clear Creek Valley Platte Stromsburg. The precinct chairmen will join the county board of directors with January 4 meetings to elect the county soil conservation chairman and two other members for next year’s program.

State Board Buys Polk Refunding Bonds At Par

The State Board of Educational Lands and Funds purchased $9,000 worth of Polk village refunding bonds on Monday at par to yield 3 34 percent. The board also approved land reclassification and reappraisal in Boone Polk and Keya Paha counties. Mrs Eric Ericson 78 dies after illness in Osceola

Stromsburg notes the death of Mrs. Eric Ericson age 78 at Osceola hospital after years of ill health. Born in Illinois she moved to Polk County over fifty-five years ago living north of Stromsburg. Funeral held at Stromsburg Baptist Church with Rev. Gust E. Carlson officiating. Interment in Stromsburg cemetery.
