The Boys Club met in the Baptist Church parlors on Wednesday evening with 28 boys present. Lunch was served by Mrs. William Thompson and Mrs. Gene Wood.
A surprise birthday breakfast was held Saturday morning at the home of Barbara Glasser’s parents, Mr and Mrs Junior Glasser and family. Guests included Mr and Mrs Roy Glasser Sr and Mrs Hillis Sterner and Galen.
Mr and Mrs James Brazda Sr and Mr and Mrs Glen Brazda returned home last week after a five day Bahama Island tour. Mr and Mrs Donald Bjerrum and family were lunch guests of Mr and Mrs Roy Glasser Jr after the Christmas program. Miss Barbara Glasser of Chicago Ill and Miss Beverly Glasser of Longmont Colo have arrived home to spend Christmas with their parents Mr and Mrs Roy Glasser Jr.
The Progress notes holiday visitors with Norris Alfred of Kansas City and Ted Alfred of Crete staying with their parents in Polk. Miss Edna Giaque of Brush Cole dined with Mrs. Glen Green Thursday as Christmas gatherings continue.
Church announces an 8 30 PM Watch Night Fellowship with family parlor programs and cookies for lunch. Visitors Dr and Mrs Sundberg of Sterling Colorado join A E B Sundberg family for Christmas. Guests include the Norton family in Osceola and several local residents sharing meals and gatherings.
Forty year pins were awarded to Harry B. Guidinger Harry J. Shultz Parker W Aker and Reuben C. Gustafson by Worshipful Master K L Stewart at Polk Lodge No 311 A F and A M meeting on December 12 A forty year pin was also sent to Chappel to be given to Kenneth Samuels, a Polk lodge member.
Martin Jones of Osceola was reelected president of the Polk County Farmers Union at the annual meeting in Stromsburg REA Building. Richard Heimer Shelby was named vice president and M. G. Lindburg Polk was sec treas. Ted Otte Polk Fifth District Director announced 1967 plans and spoke of the Grand Island state convention. Dwight Burney couple showed slides on their Pakistan trip under Farmers and World Affairs. M. G. Ladbury spoke on Who Shall Speak for the Farmers.
